New regulations governing Personal Mobility Aids (PMAs) have been introduced to address misuse and enhance safety in shared public spaces. PMAs are designed for individuals who have difficulty walking, and the updated rules seek to ensure these devices serve their intended purpose.

What the New PMA Regulations Address

PMA rules information

The new PMA regulations target two key areas: curbing misuse of mobility devices and improving safety for everyone in shared spaces. A common concern among PMA users is whether the 6km/h speed limit affects a mobility scooter's ability to climb slopes. The speed limit does not reduce slope-climbing capability, as that is determined by the device's torque rather than its maximum speed.

Our Tampines Hub has shared a video explaining how these rules work and why they matter for all users of shared spaces. The initiative aims to foster greater awareness and understanding among both PMA users and the general public.
